#5 Elliott Yamin; The life after American Idol..

In season 5 of American Idol one person really stood out way above the rest. Even though Elliott Yamin was singing his songs way better than the other’s, he just came in third place. Still this couldn’t stop him believing in himself and doing what he loves to do most; making (good) music. Elliott Yamin has recorded three albums until now, but his third album Gather’ Round is exclusively released in Japan.

Elliott Yamin’s self-titled debut album came out in 2007. The first single from this album that he brought out was ‘Wait For You’. This is a slow tempo ballad, the song is about a guy (Elliott) who will wait for this girl even if it might take forever. Even though the fact that she left him;

But I know it’s a lie what you keep inside

#4 Anthony Hamilton; taking music to a higher level

One of the persons who doesn’t get enough recognition for his musical work is definitely Anthony Hamilton. And I just don’t get it, Anthony Hamilton’s contribution and dedication to music is so immense.

Most people only know his songs ‘Charlene‘ and ‘Dear Life‘ soundtrack of the movie Step Up.

But Anthony Hamilton has made so many more great songs. I haven’t heard every song of him yet, but I come across more and more songs that I like.

What I really like is that he makes music that is so soulful and just making me want to take the time to relax.

#3 Dr Dre – I Need a Doctor (ft Eminem, Skylar Grey)

Nigg*s try to be the king but the ace is back! Finally, after all those years Dr Dre released his new single called ‘I Need A Doctor’ that will appear on his long-expected album Detox. All I know is that I have put this song on replay for quite a few times now!

If the rest of the songs on Dr Dre’s new album Detox are just as great as I Need A Doctor, then I don’t even mind waiting all those years.
All those years where I (and the rest of the world) had to do with the classics ‘Forgot About Dre‘ (ft Eminem), ‘Still D.R.E.‘, ‘Nuthin’ But A G Thang‘ and ‘The Next Episode‘ (all ft Snoop Dogg) which are still great by the way.

The clip of ‘I Need a Doctor’ starts with a few flash backs of his life. In the next scene he drives away in his Ferrari and when he is going faster and faster he loses control of the vehicle and crashed.

Next up is seeing Dr Dre laying on a table on life support with Eminem coming closer starting his rap. The rest you should check for yourself!

Some parts of the lyrics I picked out. It’s really great how Eminem shows his appreciation towards Dr Dre because Dre believed in his talent and gave him a chance.

And Dr Dre feels betrayed by his previous crews and manager. Now there is only Eminem that stood by his side. It just shows how big the mutual respect between those two is.

After his amazing version of ‘This Woman’s Work’ I never thought Maxwell would ever make a song again that would caught my attention. But the beautiful lyrics of ‘Pretty Wings’ really say it all;

#1 My dawgs couldn’t tell If I, I look like Tom Cruise on Vanilla Sky

If you recognize this sentence, you probably know my first post is about an American artist who has been in a near fatal car accident in 2002. This crash gave Kanye West inspiration for his first single Through the Wire (which appeared on his first album The College Dropout).

Ever since I heard Through the Wire you can say I became a fan of Kanye’s music. From this album on you can recognize a Kanye West song when listening closely to the beat. When you do that you will notice that he uses a lot of samples in his music. The thing I like about his beats is that they always add a certain boost to his songs.

Kanye West likes to be controversial in his songs. Good example is his song ‘Jesus Walks’, let me put down a part of the lyrics here;

They say you can rap about anything except for Jesus
That means guns, s*x, lies, videos tapes
But if I talk about God my record won’t get played

I think Kanye West is right on this matter, I don’t see any reasons why religion is such a big issue when it appears in a song. (But I have to note that I haven’t been brought up in a very religious family). By recording ‘Jesus Walks’ he’s trying to show the world that religion is there for everyone.

One of his latest songs is called ‘Power’, funny thing but when I first heard it I had an association with Africa. If you want to know what I mean by that you should listen it for yourself.

Also I had to listen to it a couple of times before I got used to it. The lyrics are typical Kanye West but the song has a new sort of sound, actually pretty good because it is refreshing.

This is a question I asked myself quite a few times now. And if you have thought about it before like I have, you probably came to the same conclusion that it’s really really hard to pick an answer. I’m really curious what your answer would be. Still can’t choose? Imagine someone pointing a gun at your head and made you choose within 5 seconds or he will pull the trigger and there’s nothing to choose any more. Counting now… Good luck

Okay here’s one for you. Do you ever wake up and the first thing that comes up is; I NEED MUSIC!!

If you are, this is the perfect blog for you. If not, stay tuned, read some more here and maybe you’ll get normal some day. Music is one of the most important things in my life. Basically you can say that I eat, dream and breath music.

The beautiful thing about music is that it brings people closer to each other, or you can just plug your earbuds in and use music to escape reality for a while and chill in your own world. There are people who are addicted to drugs, well music is my personal drug. I’ll be posting some more very soon!
